Software Engineer – Manufacturing Data Platform

About the role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials you will work on a manufacturing data and applications platform that drives digitalisation and automation across the company. You will build the foundational data layer and expand into backend services and user‑facing applications, collaborating closely with operations and internal users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve relational data models for hierarchical manufacturing data.
• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines, transformation processes, and integration connectors.
• Develop backend services and APIs that implement core manufacturing business logic.
• Create user‑facing applications on a modern manufacturing app platform and collaborate on UI/UX.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and resilience mechanisms for pipelines and services.
• Maintain technical documentation, conduct code reviews, and produce operational runbooks.

Required profile

• Proven experience building multi‑user web applications for internal stakeholders.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C# or similar.
• Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs or backend services.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as data contracts, lineage, and quality checks.
• Good engineering hygiene including testing, Git, CI/CD, and clean code practices.
