Solution Architect - Data Center Thermal Management

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for a Solution Architect (Technology Strategy Applications Engineer) to identify the challenges, constraints and goals of data center designers and develop tailored, scalable thermal management solutions. The role focuses on facility water systems used in air-cooled, liquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled data center facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop globally applicable reference designs for facility water used in air-cooled, liquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled data center facilities.
• Work with thermal system partners and stakeholders to author white papers, case studies and application guides.
• Engage with consulting engineers and mission-critical mechanical teams at conferences and expos to shape the next generation of cooling architecture.
• Provide technical support and guidance on thermal management (facility water) products internally and externally.
• Collaborate with R&D, Training, Product Management and Technical Support to meet market needs and prepare design, technical and marketing tools for current and upcoming products.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience designing mechanical cooling systems such as chillers, chilled water pumping and storage systems.
• Minimum 5 years in the data center industry, directly responsible for designing cooling systems for advanced IT equipment.
• Proven track record of writing product specifications for or from end users, consultants and installers.
• Experience in strategic planning, marketing and market research, and strong prospecting skills.
• Willingness to travel globally as needed.

• Strong technical knowledge of mission-critical cooling systems, their applications and market trends.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills, able to influence decision-makers.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across R&D, training, product management and technical support teams.
