Solutions Engineer, Charles River Development

About the role

The Solutions Engineer provides pre-sales support to the sales, account management, customer success and product teams. The role leads the technical side of pre-sales engagements, from demos and proofs of concept to security audits, requirements scoping and proposals, and speaks with equal credibility about the product's technical aspects and each customer's business challenges. It sits within Charles River Development, a State Street company that builds enterprise investment management software for institutional investors, wealth managers and hedge funds.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, giving industry best practices with examples from real clients.
• Support the Sales Manager during the discovery phase, defining the problems to solve with customer data.
• Present products through demos, proofs of concept and onsite workshops.
• Engage the CTO or CIO on technical architecture and recommend a data management strategy.
• Gather customer requirements and lead RFP responses with the Sales Manager.
• Bridge customers and the Customer Success team, and coordinate Product, Marketing, Development and Customer Success to deliver within buying cycles.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (Accounting/Finance preferred).
• 5+ years as a solutions engineer or consultant to private market investors or Fortune 500 companies.
• Experience in infrastructure, real estate, private credit, private equity, private market diligence, fund management or process consulting; private markets experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate from CEO to end user, strong presentation skills, and self-motivation and coachability.
• Willingness to travel 30-50% for customer engagements, including internationally.

Required skills

• Proof-of-concept development with modern technologies.
• Investment management, corporate finance or accounting knowledge.
• Optional: BI dashboards or technical skills such as Java, JavaScript, AWS, Python, SQL, Tableau or PowerBI.
