Special Situations Associate 2027

About the role

Bain Capital Special Situations is a global provider of hybrid capital for corporate and asset-backed opportunities, partnering with companies, sponsors, founders, corporates and asset owners. This Associate program is a two-year commitment, with potential for ongoing employment after completion. Candidates must hold appropriate work authorization for Singapore, as the firm cannot sponsor an employment visa.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fundamental company-specific research in industry-specific sectors, including visiting company management, original on-site research with customers and suppliers, and attending industry conferences
• Perform industry-level analyses that inform the investment process
• Build earnings models and perform valuation analysis
• Make proactive buy/sell recommendations and communicate views clearly with team members
• Apply the firm's straightforward investment process, using direct verbal communication or concise written summaries backed by data-driven analysis such as quantitative models of market size and growth, competitive positioning and financial statement analysis

Required profile

• Minimum of three years of post-undergrad business and/or investing experience with a highly regarded investment management, banking or private equity firm
• University degree from a highly regarded institution
• Experience analyzing and evaluating companies, with strong, disciplined analytical skills
• Experience interacting with and assessing senior management teams, and strong relationship-building skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in team environments, with strong communication skills and a creative approach to due diligence
