The role drives critical modules of the process roadmap, working directly with process integration and other process areas such as wet etch, CVD, diffusion, metals, lithography and CMP. It involves state-of-the-art dry etch chambers and aims to meet program and yield goals.
Key responsibilities
- Develop dry etch processes that meet the physical and electrical requirements of Micron's products.
- Optimize dry etch processes to reduce cost, process variability and improve process capability.
- Collaborate with process integration and other process development teams on new solutions.
- Run root cause and failure mode analyses and drive vendors toward solutions.
- Perform fundamental research for next-generation products and maintain a technology development pilot manufacturing line.
- Support process transfer to production facilities; some domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Required profile
- MS degree plus 3-4 years of relevant experience in dry etch in the semiconductor industry, or a PhD plus 1-2 years (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or Semiconductor Engineering).
- BS degree plus 5 years of relevant experience in dry etch.
- Internships may count as part of job experience.
- Preference for candidates with semiconductor experience.
Required skills
- Research and development aptitude in science and engineering, with experimental design and data analysis.
- Root-cause or model-based problem solving and strong analytical and creative thinking.
- Proficiency in statistics and statistical process control (preferred).
- Fundamental knowledge of at least one of: transport phenomena, dry etch processing, kinetic theory, statistical thermodynamics or plasma physics.
