Staff Engineer, PDE CEM

About the role

Micron is hiring a Staff/Senior Process Development Engineer within its PDE-CEM group. You will use expertise in semiconductor process characterization, failure analysis, yield analytics and process integration to accelerate product and technology development. The role focuses on building robust assembly processes, improving yield and reliability, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and optimizing manufacturing performance with data-driven methods.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize the Process of Record (POR) for assembly and packaging technologies, set process windows and capability targets, and apply DOE, SPC, JMP and Six Sigma
• Lead root cause investigations using RCA, FMEA, OCAP and containment strategies, and support high-volume manufacturing through excursion management
• Analyze failure mechanisms and process variation drivers, and work with digital and automation teams on AI-enabled process monitoring
• Support product qualification, technology transfers and NPI, and establish baseline POR, TOR and BOM controls
• Serve as a technical resource, coach engineers, lead cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders on complex programs

Required profile

• Ph.D., Master's or Bachelor's degree in Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline
• 5+ years of semiconductor industry experience in process development, failure analysis, yield engineering, process integration, characterization or NPI engineering
• Strong semiconductor device physics and materials science fundamentals

Required skills

• Advanced characterization: SEM, TEM, FIB, AFM, spectroscopy
• Working knowledge of DOE, SPC, FMEA, JMP, RCA, control plans and OCAP
• Yield analytics and visualization tools, familiarity with data science and machine learning concepts
• Exposure to Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing concepts
