Staff Foundry Engineer

About the role

Silicon Labs' Foundry Engineering team sits between silicon wafer foundries and its design and CAD groups, ensuring the right process technologies are used and that options, technology files and models lead to first-time silicon success. The role reinforces the team to support new process bring-up and NPI (New Product Introduction) development.

Key responsibilities

• Support new process bring-up through technology assessment, test-chip design and characterization.
• Support NPI development: resolve design obstacles, execute tapeout and wafer plans, run prototype qualification and support production launch and ramping.
• Act as the interface between operations teams and foundry suppliers, improving communication and tackling logistical and technical issues.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in EE, Physics, Materials Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience.
• Ability to break down problems, propose solutions, build consensus, respect constraints and drive execution, analysis and implementation.
• Thorough, quality-focused, analytical and collaborative across diverse team members.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in multi-task mode, supporting teams across time zones.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics (PN junction, MOSFET), intrinsic reliability (HCI, BTI), GDS tape-out and mask-making flows, and wafer fab process integration.
• Familiarity with layout design tools, wafer-level probing systems, characterization methodology, data analysis tools and FA techniques.
• Knowledge of the IC chip development flow, design rule methodology, basic analog/digital circuit concepts and statistical theory.
• Experience in advanced-node fabs and advanced eNVM evaluation/characterization is a plus.
