Staff Product Designer

About the role

Open Government Products is looking for a Staff Product Designer to lead design on the most complex, ambiguous public‑service problems. You will spend the majority of your time crafting user‑centred solutions while also shaping OGP’s design practice and strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Operate with high autonomy, setting design direction and ensuring execution across the organisation.
• Champion design excellence, raising craft standards for OGP and partner agencies.
• Mentor lead and senior designers, helping them grow their skills and impact.
• Navigate complex government ecosystems to address systemic issues such as disconnected services and policy constraints.
• Lead cross‑functional coordination across multiple departments and agencies to deliver coherent public‑facing solutions.

Required profile

• 10+ years of digital product design experience with a portfolio of impactful public‑service products.
• Exceptional visual design eye and attention to detail, able to articulate design decisions clearly.
• Deep commitment to user‑centred design, with hands‑on experience in user research and mobile‑first, responsive design.
• Strong communication skills to bridge users, engineers, and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset, eager to drive change and innovate within government services.
