Staff/Principal Engineer - Wet Process Development

About the role

Micron is hiring a Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer for its wet process development team at Fab 10N/X in Singapore. The role focuses on developing and optimizing unit processes for advanced NAND products, improving process margins and quality, and integrating AI-assisted tools into daily work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize unit processes to meet the yield and quality requirements of advanced NAND products.
• Quantify the benefits of innovative process and equipment solutions to enable early experimentation and adoption for process margin improvement.
• Prioritize key technology issues for the Singapore-based manufacturing wet etch team and integrate and troubleshoot processes in cross-functional teams.
• Work with Advanced Node peers on technology choices for upcoming nodes and translate device needs into clear process requirements.
• Perform fundamental research, hardware evaluations and testing of processes for novel applications, and generate intellectual property.
• Initiate and manage experiments to widen process margins and test manufacturability of next-node solutions.
• Identify process simplification opportunities and incorporate best-known manufacturing methods into early development.
• Design and implement advanced process monitoring and control methodologies.
• Serve as a technical expert, lead teams or suppliers on complex projects, advise management on technical issues, and lead innovation projects through patents and technical papers.

Required profile

• PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical/Microelectronic Engineering.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in leading-edge wet etch technology.
• Deep understanding of chemistry, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, mass transport and physical phenomena.
• Understanding of films and interface engineering, and of integration and structural constraints of wet etch processes.
• Understanding of process flows for memory processing, planar and vertical NAND memory.
• Ability to collaborate with local and overseas teams, communicate clearly, and adapt to extended hours when required.

Required skills

• Fundamental research and design of experiments (DoE)
• Working knowledge of data analysis systems such as Y3
• Knowledge of SIMS, XPS, EDX and SEM/TEM analysis techniques
