Sustainability and Energy Policy Manager

About the role

Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team is seeking a senior professional to shape sustainability and energy policy across the Asia‑Pacific region. You will combine deep policy expertise with strategic thinking to influence both internal product direction and external regulatory environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and advance sustainability and energy policy positions for Google business teams across the Asia‑Pacific region, covering climate‑related financial reporting, environmental claims, circular economy, water and trade policy.
• Lead public policy initiatives that enable the deployment of artificial intelligence for climate and energy solutions, supporting Google product teams and broader societal goals.
• Engage with government agencies, regulators, industry associations and other stakeholders to shape carbon‑free energy supply for Google data centres, suppliers and the wider supply chain.
• Collaborate with internal product, legal and communications teams to translate policy outcomes into actionable guidance for Google operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Science, Law, Policy, Economics or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience working with local, national, regional or international government institutions, legislatures or regulators.
• Preferred Master’s degree or MBA in Public Policy, Business Administration, Sustainability, Energy, Climate or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience on energy, sustainability, circular economy or climate policy issues in the Asia‑Pacific region, including interaction with industry associations and sustainability stakeholders.
