System Engineer (Day 1) – 2 Year Contract

About the role

Certis is seeking a System Engineer to join its IT infrastructure team on a two‑year contract. You will work on both project‑based and managed‑service initiatives, ensuring the reliability and security of data‑centre and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in IT infrastructure and data‑centre projects or managed services as required.
• Install, configure, test and commission system and storage equipment.
• Perform OS hardening, patching and updating on servers and virtual machines.
• Plan, document and execute migration activities, including implementation and acceptance testing.
• Develop implementation, migration and acceptance test plans for each project.
• Conduct user acceptance testing and resolve any issues identified.
• Design system architecture for new IT deployments in hosted and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to schedule implementation tasks.
• Create As‑built documentation for hand‑over to operations teams.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Computer Science or a related IT field.
• At least 3 years of experience in the IT industry, with a minimum of 2 years focused on systems and security.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and IP/TCP protocols.
• Deep knowledge of systems security issues.
• Hands‑on experience with security‑related tasks such as OS tightening, patching, updating and virus scanning (advantageous).
• Relevant certifications in systems, storage, networking, databases, virtualization or cloud technologies (advantageous).
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
