System Engineer

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Ensures that all projects and programs assigned are completed and meet requirements, with specific attention to system specifications, program costs, resource utilization, and timeliness.
• Directs and manages the activities of a systems‑engineering group or unit, enabling it to meet key performance goals and objectives.
• Effectively assigns work to subordinate staff and/or project managers, providing professional development while maximizing productivity.
• Develops personnel through training, career development, performance management, goal setting, and coaching.
• Participates in employee selection and hiring, manages reward and discipline processes, and may oversee professional services and outsourced staff.
• Supports the business by managing requirements analysis, system functionality design and verification, capability sizing, enhancements, extensions, and troubleshooting support.
• Prepares system development cost estimates, budgets, and schedules; creates and presents project proposals to management and the business community.
• Ensures design, development life‑cycle, system test and validation processes; maintains safety standards and completes accident reports as required.
