Systems Software Engineer - C

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Systems Software Engineer focused on C programming in Singapore. The role is hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software for software enhancements and new products, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools, and assesses hardware compatibility.

Key responsibilities

• Design limited enhancements, updates and programming changes for parts of systems software such as operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases and Internet tools.
• Analyze design and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed according to project guidelines.
• Write portions of testing plans, protocols and documentation, identify and debug code issues and suggest improvements.
• Work with other software engineers and internal and outsourced partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Communicate with partners on design status, project progress and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
• Typically 2-4 years of experience.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills and to design software running on multiple platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, mastery of English and the local language, and ability to present design proposals and negotiate options.

Required skills

• Software systems design tools and languages.
• Working experience with C programming.
• Basic Python is advantageous.
• Software systems testing methodology, including test plan execution, debugging and testing scripts and tools.
