Technical Accountant – Vessel Finance

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Accountant to oversee the full set of accounts for our fleet of vessels. The role involves managing vessel‑related invoices, payments, accruals and financial reporting, while supporting budgeting and cost‑control initiatives. You will work closely with technical superintendents, fleet managers and external suppliers to ensure accurate financial information and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full sets of accounts for assigned vessels, processing invoices, payments, accruals and journal entries.
• Prepare monthly vessel accounts, financial reports and reconcile balance‑sheet items.
• Monitor operating expenses against budgets, analyse variances and assist in annual budgeting and forecasts.
• Verify vendor invoices, ensure timely payments and uphold internal controls and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with technical superintendents, procurement and external suppliers to provide accounting support and respond to queries.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting procedures and finance‑related projects.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in shipping, maritime or ship‑management environments.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and budgeting.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems.
