Technologist - Fab Layout Planning

About the role

Micron is hiring a Layout Technologist to drive the tactical planning and execution of tool move-in in its fabrication facility. Working with operations, logistics and relevant vendors, the technologist ensures that layout drawings match the factory site location and that tools arrive at their designated locations on schedule, supporting factory ramp-up.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments with stakeholders such as Tool Owners and Facilities teams before equipment move-in to ensure plans are feasible on site.
• Perform move-path assessments, including First-Of-A-Kind (FOAK) equipment, to ensure safe and executable movement within the fab.
• Carry out datum marking and verification to align with layout and installation requirements.
• Manage furniture, safety devices and temporary staging inside the fab.
• Coordinate with contractors on equipment move-in and move-out activities.
• Escalate tool layout constraints or on-site assessment issues to Layout Engineers in a timely manner.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency and quality, and share AI-enabled improvements with the team.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering.
• Willingness to work regularly on site in cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments, wearing smocks and PPE.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage time and priorities, and collaborate with stakeholders and contractors.
• Preferred: basic understanding of semiconductor equipment, fab operations and manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to troubleshoot basic issues and identify root causes.
• AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly for research, analysis and problem solving.
• Advantageous: basic AutoCAD knowledge and basic data extraction, analysis and reporting.
