Test Development Engineer - NPI Silicon Programs

About the role

Broadcom is looking for a Test Development Engineer to lead the definition, architecture and execution of test solutions for its NPI silicon programs. The engineer acts as the technical authority for the "First Silicon" bridge, turning complex design specifications into robust, production-ready ATE test programs so that characterization, verification and manufacturing test coverage are unified early in the design cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define test strategies from pre-silicon to mass production, including wafer sort, final test and system-level test (SLT) requirements.
• Bring up first-pass silicon and resolve critical issues such as power delivery, signal integrity and firmware-hardware interaction.
• Develop and validate complex ATE test programs (Advantest V93000/ExaScale) using C++, Python and Java to automate test patterns, characterization scripts and data analysis.
• Work with PCB and probe card designers to optimise test hardware for high-speed signals (PCIe Gen6, HBM4, Maxphy, 400G+ SerDes).
• Partner with design teams on DFT features (scan, MBIST, boundary scan, IP) and give feedback on design hooks to shorten test time.
• Run PVT characterization experiments to set product guard-bands and drive initiatives to improve test time and coverage before volume manufacturing.
• Act as the main technical contact for IP owners, DFT engineers and assembly/test partners, communicating debug findings and yield limiters.

Required profile

• Experience developing ATE test programs on Advantest SmartScale (PS1600) or ExaScale (PS5000).
• Advanced C++, Python and Perl, with the ability to write robust, maintainable test code.
• Understanding of silicon physics, ESD, latch-up and testing at advanced nodes (1.4nm/2nm/3nm).
• Knowledge of high-speed electronics, transmission lines, power delivery and test hardware (loadboards, sockets, thermal control).
• Track record through the NPI milestones from tape-out to qualification and high-volume transfer.
