Trade Finance for Financial Institutions Intern

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) offers an internship in its Transaction Banking Office for Asia (TBOA), within the Trade Finance for Financial Institutions (TFFI) team. The internship runs from 11 January 2027 to 30 June 2027 and combines practical business experience with analytical, research and project-based learning. It covers trade finance solutions, product sales, risk distribution, business analytics and process improvement for bank and non-bank financial institution clients. The role is based in Singapore and is open to Singaporean and PR students only.

Key responsibilities

• Learn trade finance products, risk participation structures, guarantees and related solutions, and follow the end-to-end FI-to-FI origination and distribution process
• Research market developments, industry trends and client activities to support business development
• Support transaction administration, pipeline monitoring and business reporting
• Create templates to collect and consolidate business data from multiple countries, and help prepare management information and business reviews
• Build analytical frameworks, dashboards and presentations, and perform ad hoc research on trade finance markets
• Support the monthly TFFI management dashboard and review reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Take part in automation initiatives that reduce manual processes and improve reporting
• Prepare briefing materials and market intelligence for client meetings, and support Master Agreement negotiations

Required profile

• Singaporean or PR student
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and in a regional team
• Interest in financial institutions, trade finance, transaction banking and risk distribution markets
• Good project management and organisational skills with attention to detail

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with interest in data analysis and reporting
• Experience with data visualisation, dashboard creation, reporting automation or process improvement is advantageous
