Tugboat Captain / Master

About the role

QSA Marine & Logistics is seeking an experienced Tugboat Captain / Master to take overall command of its tug operations across Singapore. The role involves safe navigation, towing, and harbour support while leading the vessel crew.

Key responsibilities

• Command and navigate the tugboat safely during towing, pushing, harbour and marine support operations.
• Supervise vessel crew, manage watchkeeping schedules and enforce onboard discipline.
• Ensure compliance with Flag State, Class, ISM, STCW, COLREGs and company safety standards.
• Conduct vessel and equipment inspections, oversee maintenance and keep all logs, certificates and reports up to date.
• Lead emergency response, safety drills and other onboard safety activities.
• Liaise with shore management, clients, port authorities and other vessels as required.
• Maintain environmental protection standards and pollution‑prevention compliance.

Required profile

• Valid Master/Tug Master Certificate of Competency recognized by the relevant Flag State.
• Valid STCW and mandatory safety certificates.
• Proven experience as Captain/Master on tugboats, preferably with towing, barge handling, harbour or offshore operations.
• Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship and towing operations.
• Good leadership, communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Singaporean or Malaysian nationality preferred.
