Vessel Operator

About the role

Louis Dreyfus Company is looking for a motivated Vessel Operator to manage the end‑to‑end execution of dry bulk voyages. You will ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective sea transportation of commodities across global trade routes, working closely with freight traders, execution teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee voyage execution from fixture to completion for assigned dry cargo vessels.
• Communicate voyage instructions with vessel owners, ship masters, charterers and internal stakeholders.
• Appoint and monitor port agents, surveyors and vendors, ensuring performance standards.
• Optimize cargo stowage, bunkering plans and voyage routes in collaboration with relevant desks.
• Maintain accurate data in the voyage management system (IMOS) and handle payment/invoicing instructions.
• Track voyage P&L, monitor vessel performance and resolve disputes or claims.
• Support process‑improvement initiatives and foster strong relationships with commercial teams.

Required profile

• 1 to 5 years of experience in vessel operations, preferably with dry bulk ships.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Accountable, collaborative and able to work under tight time constraints.

Required skills

• Experience with voyage management systems (e.g., IMOS) and basic financial tracking.
• Knowledge of cargo intake optimization, stowage planning and bunkering coordination.
