Water Treatment Plant Engineer

About the role

The company is seeking a proactive Engineer to take full ownership of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP). You will ensure reliable, uninterrupted operation while meeting flow, quality, and regulatory requirements, and you will act as the main point of contact for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and optimise the assigned WTP to achieve target flow, water quality, reliability and compliance.
• Lead, coach and mentor operators and technicians, reinforcing safe operating practices.
• Optimise chemical usage, energy consumption and manpower without compromising performance.
• Prepare and submit routine operational reports covering water quality, system performance and chemical consumption.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies, investigate root causes, implement corrective actions and restore operations.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate preventive, corrective and shutdown maintenance with clients and internal/external teams.
• Develop method statements, safe work procedures, risk assessments and obtain necessary permits before work.
• Supervise contractors, verify workmanship and hand over systems to clients.
• Ensure compliance with site EHS requirements and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support commissioning and start‑up activities when required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering.
• 3‑5 years of experience in operation, maintenance or construction of water‑treatment facilities; experience with ultrapure water systems is a plus.
• Strong technical aptitude, problem‑solving capability and accountability.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work outside regular hours or travel overseas.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and maintain strong client relationships.
