Head of Quality & Food Safety

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Quality & Food Safety to lead all quality and food safety functions across our coffee trading operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that every green coffee shipment meets the highest standards of sensory quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming and outgoing coffee samples, including sensory assessment and quality analysis.
• Coordinate with coffee‑producing origins and suppliers to enforce green coffee quality specifications.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners on sample approvals and shipment quality status.
• Manage third‑party laboratory testing and review analytical results for compliance.
• Handle customer complaints, conduct root‑cause investigations, and drive Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR).
• Develop, implement and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including EU import standards and EUDR documentation.
• Design and deliver internal training on sensory evaluation, green coffee analysis, and food safety.
• Oversee sustainability and statistical reporting and lead strategic quality projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in quality and food safety within food commodities, coffee trading or FMCG.
• Strong expertise in green coffee quality evaluation, sensory analysis and grading.
• In‑depth knowledge of QMS and food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000).
• Familiarity with international regulatory and import requirements (EU, Asia).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership abilities.
• Experience with sustainability and compliance initiatives such as EUDR is a plus.
• Willingness to travel regionally as required.
