Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) - Facilities Management

About the role

Surbana Jurong is hiring a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) for its facilities management function. The WSHO develops, implements and maintains workplace safety and health programmes so that the organisation complies with Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) legislation and industry best practice, while building a strong safety culture and keeping the workplace safe and healthy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review WSH policies, procedures and programmes
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend control measures to reduce workplace hazards
• Ensure compliance with WSH regulations, codes of practice and company safety standards
• Carry out regular safety inspections, audits and workplace monitoring
• Investigate accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions
• Prepare and implement emergency response and business continuity plans
• Organise WSH training, toolbox meetings, safety briefings and awareness campaigns
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, contractors and internal stakeholders on safety matters
• Maintain safety records, reports, statistics and documentation required by regulators
• Support management in achieving safety objectives and continual improvement

Required profile

• Valid Registered WSHO with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
• Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (Level C) or a recognised degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental or a related discipline
• Minimum relevant experience in workplace safety, health and environmental management
• Strong knowledge of Singapore WSH legislation, regulations and best practice
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and incident investigation capabilities
• A valid Registered SCDF FSM and NEA ECO is an added advantage
