Yield Enhancement Laboratory Engineer
micron · Fab 10N/X
Job description
About the role
Micron is hiring a Yield Enhancement Laboratory Engineer to tackle the most challenging yield and technology issues for its advanced memory products. You will investigate complex electrical and physical failure mechanisms, turn analytical findings into actionable yield improvements and contribute to technology development and manufacturing excellence. The role sits in a Fab 10N/X facility and involves state-of-the-art failure analysis and advanced laboratory capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate and solve complex yield, quality and technology challenges through advanced electrical and physical failure analysis.
- Perform fault isolation and failure characterization using techniques such as EMMI, OBIRCH, thermal analysis, SEM, FIB, TEM, nanoprobing and related methods to identify failure mechanisms and drive rapid yield learning.
- Use knowledge of semiconductor device physics, circuit behavior and manufacturing processes to establish root causes and enable process and design improvements.
- Partner with Product Engineering, Design, Yield Enhancement, Process Engineering and R&D teams to find design marginalities, process interactions and technology limitations affecting product performance.
- Develop new analytical methodologies and support new technology introduction, yield ramp, product qualification and high-volume manufacturing.
- Drive continuous improvement of analytical capability, cycle time, productivity and engineering effectiveness.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and share AI-enabled enhancements within your scope.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Science; candidates with about 3-5 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and collaboration across all levels, and a growth mindset.
- Knowledge of semiconductor devices, device physics, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Flexibility to support shift-based operations in a manufacturing environment when required.
- Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable; interest in the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
Required skills
- Familiarity with electrical and physical failure analysis techniques (EMMI/OBIRCH/thermal, SEM, FIB, TEM, nanoprobing) is advantageous.
- Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly for research, analysis and problem solving.
