2nd Wok Chef

About the role

The 2nd Wok Chef supports the kitchen team at Marriott’s flagship venue on Beach Road, preparing a variety of hot and cold dishes with precision and consistency. You will work closely with the head chef to ensure menu items meet the brand’s quality and presentation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals, cold foods, and substitute items according to recipes.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters; pull and thaw items from freezer storage.
• Maintain portion control, food arrangement, garnish, and food logs.
• Monitor food quality and quantity, inform the chef of excess items for daily specials.
• Communicate menu specials and out‑of‑stock items to service staff.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching.
• Follow safety, security, and sanitation policies; report maintenance needs and incidents.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree in culinary arts or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant kitchen experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions.
• Professional appearance and strong communication skills.
