Adjunct Lecturer, School of Life Skills and Communication

About the role

Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore's first polytechnic, offers pre-employment and continuing adult education and aims to prepare learners to be life ready, work ready and world ready. It is seeking an adjunct lecturer for its School of Life Skills and Communication (LSC). The appointee teaches in the day (morning and/or afternoon) and may also deliver short courses for adults.

Key responsibilities

• Teach digital skills modules such as digital collaboration, data storytelling, personal branding and building dashboards in Power BI
• Teach communication modules such as oral presentation, teamwork and interpersonal communication, oral and written communication for work, report writing and proposal writing
• Teach modules on current affairs and enduring issues, covering information literacy, critical reasoning, argumentation and persuasion, design thinking and analysis
• Train in short courses for adults in digital skills (Microsoft Word, digital communication and collaboration, AI for workplace communication), career development (career planning, job search, networking and branding) and communication skills (intergenerational communication, negotiation, coaching and mentoring)

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Arts or Social Sciences
• Preference for qualifications in Teaching or Education, tertiary-level teaching experience or adult training experience
• Applicants requiring work passes should not apply

Required skills

• Proficiency in using digital and AI tools for teaching is desirable
