AI/ML Analyst – Generative AI Specialist

About the role

American Express is looking for an AI/ML Analyst to design and deliver Generative AI solutions that solve real business challenges. The role blends hands‑on prototyping, model development, and cross‑functional collaboration to accelerate innovation across Technology, Marketing, Servicing, and Risk.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement proof‑of‑concept prototypes for AI/ML and Generative AI aligned with business objectives.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code for data processing, model training, and deployment.
• Integrate AI solutions with existing Amex platforms in partnership with the Technology team.
• Run experiments to evaluate model performance, optimize algorithms for scalability, and ensure robustness.
• Stay current with AI/ML trends and share insights to elevate team expertise.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Extensive experience building scalable prototypes in machine learning, NLP, and Generative AI.
• Proven ability to translate real‑world problems into data‑science projects.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Python (or Java, C++) programming.
• Machine‑learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn.
• Experience with Large Language Models and Generative AI techniques.
• Data‑processing tools such as SQL and BigQuery (a plus).
