Alternative Ops Fund Accounting, AVP

About the role

This supervisory position sits within the Hedge Fund Services business unit of the State Street Alternative Investment Services Group, in the International Fund Services (IFS) team, which provides fund accounting, fund administration and risk services to hedge funds and private equity funds. As Client Services AVP, you will direct the day-to-day accounting and administration for several client-sponsored investment funds and lead a team of fund accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage fund administration: allocation of income to investors, calculation of management and incentive fees under waterfall provisions, and processing of capital calls and distributions
• Oversee daily accounting, including financial statements, partner capital statements and Net Asset Valuation (NAV)
• Review Limited Partnership Agreements and offering memoranda, and coordinate annual audits and tax returns with external firms
• Manage workflows so client deadlines are met, and act as escalation point for client queries
• Maintain relationships with investors, auditors, lawyers and banks, and report suspicious transactions per corporate policy
• Lead and mentor fund accountants, set goals and foster cross-team collaboration
• Lead onboarding of existing client funds and launch of new funds, and take part in special projects

Required profile

• College degree (business, mathematics, finance or economics preferred; accounting concentration a plus)
• At least 8-10 years of accounting experience, including 3-4 years of managerial experience
• Specific experience in the hybrid private equity/private credit/hedge industry is a must
• Experience with Investran or Geneva is favourable but not required; CPA/CFA a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments
