AnT Trainee - Biotechnologist

About the role

Lonza is offering a 15-month attached and trainee programme in biotechnology at its site in Singapore Tuas. The trainee supports day-to-day operations in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment, performing tasks that keep the assigned department efficient, compliant and safe. It is a fully site-based role, working in person with rotating 12-hour day and night shifts every 2 months.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and perform well-defined procedures in a GMP manufacturing setting
• Monitor equipment and carry out basic 6S housekeeping
• Perform basic laboratory tasks such as sampling and pH, conductivity and osmolality measurements
• Carry out routine sanitization and become trained and signed off on performance measures for CIP/SIP and basic tank and instrument operations
• Demonstrate aseptic technique and perform basic process and equipment troubleshooting
• Use SOPs, logbooks and batch records, and submit samples via LIMS
• Prepare materials and equipment, including identifying parts by part number and FEFO lots, selecting dispensing booths/hoods and weight balances, assembling autoclave assemblies and washing equipment without residue
• Prepare solutions and understand the setup differences between single-use and conventional stainless steel equipment, including CIPs and buffer/media transfers

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in a relevant science discipline (Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication
• Meticulous attention to detail, systematic approach and positive team player
