Applications Support Senior Analyst, Assistant Vice President

About the role

Citi's Wealth Data & Analytics (DnA) Production Management team runs a unified, regulatory-compliant platform that supplies data for wealth management services to Ultra High Net Worth clients globally, including Citi Private Bank, Citi Gold and Wealth at Work. The Applications Support Senior Analyst supports and stabilises this data infrastructure, providing technical and business support to users of Citi applications and helping drive stability, efficiency and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quick resolutions to application issues and maintain systems that have moved past development and run in daily operations.
• Manage, maintain and support applications and their environments, focusing on stability, quality and functionality against service levels.
• Perform start-of-day checks, continuous monitoring and regional handovers, and carry out same-day risk reconciliations.
• Develop and maintain technical support documentation, and identify ways to maximise the value of the applications used.
• Assess the risk and impact of production issues and escalate them promptly to business and technology management.
• Ensure storage and archiving procedures are in place and working, and define scope and objectives for complex application enhancements.
• Review and develop application contingency plans, and partner with development and production support to prioritise bug fixes and support tooling.
• Take part in application releases from development, testing and deployment, and do post-implementation analysis.
• Identify risks, vulnerabilities and security issues, and act as liaison between users, traders, internal technology groups and vendors.
• Coach and train new or lower-level analysts, and act as a subject matter expert for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of experience in an application support role, including 4-8 years of strong application production support in the financial industry.
• Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications, and hands-on experience supporting applications built on Hadoop.
• Ability to work with limited direct supervision, make independent judgments and exercise sound ethical judgment and compliance awareness.

Required skills

• Experience with call/ticketing software and issue tracking and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of problem management tools and scheduling tools such as Autosys or CONTROL-M (added advantage).
• Very good knowledge of Hadoop/Big Data platforms, including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, YARN, Sentry, Oozie, Kafka and cluster performance tuning.
• Linux and good SQL in any RDBMS; UNIX shell scripting, Python or Perl and Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, Excel) are added advantages.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical issues to non-IT staff.
