Assistant Director, Infrastructure & Cloud Operations (IT)

About the role

The Assistant Director (Infrastructure & Cloud Operations) will join a small, two‑person infrastructure team as a senior individual contributor. Working in a vendor‑managed environment, the role blends governance, vendor coordination and hands‑on technical execution to keep hybrid on‑premises and cloud platforms stable and resilient.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day infrastructure operations across network, compute, storage, backup and end‑user platforms in hybrid environments.
• Perform configuration changes, first‑line troubleshooting, deployments, patch oversight, backup validation and health checks.
• Maintain operational KPIs, dashboards and reporting; drive improvement through automation and standardisation.
• Act as technical escalation point for incidents, problems and changes, reducing recurring issues.
• Own cloud foundations – landing zones, network and identity integration (Entra ID), monitoring, backup, DR and cost governance.
• Contribute to migration activities, ensure post‑migration stability and optimise cloud resources (right‑sizing, scheduling, tiering).
• Manage end‑user computing services via vendors, including provisioning, lifecycle refresh, patching, encryption and compliance monitoring.
• Maintain accurate asset and software license inventories to ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong hands‑on infrastructure and cloud expertise.
• Experience operating in a lean team and coordinating with external vendors or MSPs.
• Proven ability to balance governance duties with direct technical execution.
• Demonstrated track record of supporting hybrid environments and driving cloud‑first initiatives.
