Assistant Engineer – Maintenance (Logistics)

About the role

Join a leading logistics service provider as an Assistant Engineer responsible for maintaining material handling and packaging equipment across Jurong Island. You will work on a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, ensuring high equipment availability and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging, conveying, and material handling equipment, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment faults promptly to minimise downtime.
• Utilise predictive maintenance techniques and CMMS to analyse failures and manage part inventories.
• Lead a team of maintenance technicians, coordinate vendor fabrication work, and oversee planned shutdowns.
• Document commissioning of new equipment, record work orders, and prepare management reports.
• Procure spare parts, assess risks, and guide root‑cause and failure analysis with the operations team.
• Mentor new technicians and drive continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in automation or maintenance of material handling systems.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating shifts and be on standby as needed.

Required skills

• Understanding of AC drives, electrical motors and pneumatic cylinders.
• Experience with roller/chain conveyors.
• Ability to debug and modify PLC programs; knowledge of PLC and electrical systems.
• Proficiency reading Electrical Single Line Diagrams.
• Working with low‑voltage distribution boards for lighting and auxiliary equipment.
• Predictive Maintenance techniques.
• Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
