Assistant Experience Engineer (IT & Systems)

About the role

The Exhibit Maintenance team at Science Centre Singapore is looking for an Assistant Engineer (IT & Systems) on a renewable contract to keep the centre's exhibits and experiences running smoothly for visitors. The role covers maintenance, troubleshooting and IT support across the Science Centre and KidsSTOP.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the proper functioning of exhibits and experiences in the Centre.
• Carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshoot and resolve computer-related and electromechanical faults on a rotational schedule with the team.
• Assist the team's IT lead with periodic image backups of exhibits.
• Maintain the exhibition network and administer the team's knowledge management database (FTP server).
• Provide technical advice on IT matters to the team and project development teams.

Required profile

• Diploma in Information Technology, specialising in Internet Networking, Immersive Experience or Gaming Development and Systems, or Server or Data Storage Management.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting basic computer hardware faults and diagnosing software issues within an exhibit is preferred.
• Interest in taking things apart or fixing things, and ability to handle basic equipment and tools.
• Professional, collaborative, proactive and open to mentoring.
• Rotating 5-day shifts are required; weekend and public holiday work is scheduled as needed.

Required skills

• Preferred: RAID/NAS storage systems, smart home systems, basic network setup and administration (port forwarding, static IP/DHCP, DNS, subnetting, FTP server).
• Preferred: basic 2D and 3D game design and development with engines such as Unreal or Unity.
