Assistant General Counsel APAC - Corporate Legal

About the role

FTI Consulting's Legal team protects its brand by managing and mitigating legal, compliance and regulatory risk. With more than 800 staff across 12 offices, its Asia Pacific business has a significant regional footprint. FTI Consulting is looking for an Assistant General Counsel based in Singapore to join the APAC legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal APAC and working with colleagues in Singapore and Melbourne. The role delivers timely, pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to client-facing professionals and corporate functions.

Key responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of FTI's service offerings and business priorities, and foster strong stakeholder relationships.
• Partner with business segments to provide commercially focused legal support that enables growth, manages risk and advances strategic objectives.
• Draft, review and negotiate client and vendor agreements, and advise on commercial, regulatory and cross-border matters.
• Support the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, including contractual risk management and compliance.
• Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity and information governance, including data protection laws and client contractual requirements.
• Oversee disputes and regulatory matters across the region, including managing external counsel where required.
• Assist HR and business leaders on employment matters such as employee and contractor arrangements.
• Help improve contract templates, legal processes, governance frameworks and risk management.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (common law jurisdiction) with 12-15 years' experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house team.
• Experience negotiating and advising on commercial arrangements with government bodies, financial institutions and multinational corporations.
• Experience managing contentious matters and assessing risk.
• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks affecting multinational businesses, including data privacy, cybersecurity and emerging AI governance.
