Assistant Manager, Operations

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Operations to lead tactical site and shift activities across logistics, warehousing, transportation and customer service. The role focuses on optimizing process flow, controlling costs and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tactical leadership across logistics, warehousing, transportation and customer service operations to improve efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategies to streamline inbound and outbound logistics processes.
• Identify localized cost‑saving opportunities and support daily operating cost controls.
• Lead continuous improvement, waste reduction and workplace safety initiatives.
• Manage day‑to‑day relationships with third‑party vendors, including transport providers and manpower agencies, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Oversee manpower requisitions, overtime approvals and ad‑hoc operational expenditures.
• Support recruitment, selection and performance management of supervisory and executive‑level staff.
• Supervise annual stock takes and disposal approvals.
• Investigate cargo damage claims and major inventory discrepancies, driving appropriate resolutions.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for service failures and operational issues.
• Handle operational challenges, tight delivery deadlines and high‑volume periods effectively.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong vendor management, customer relationship management and conflict resolution abilities.
• Proven analytical and complex problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight operational deadlines.
