Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Photonics

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) to lead cutting‑edge research in photonics, nanophotonics, quantum photonics or related fields. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary community and help raise the division’s international profile.

Key responsibilities

• Establish a world‑class research programme in photonics, nanophotonics or quantum photonics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop new curricula.
• Secure competitive research funding and publish in top‑tier journals.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate, graduate and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Collaborate with faculty across physics, materials science and engineering, and foster industry partnerships.

Required profile

• PhD in physics, materials science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications and research grant acquisition.
• Experience supervising students or research interns.
• Demonstrated ability to work in cross‑disciplinary teams.
