Assistant Professor up to Full Professor in Discourse Analysis (ELL)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a tenure‑track or tenured faculty position in Discourse Analysis at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The role combines high‑impact research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and academic service within the English Language and Literature (ELL) department.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and publish original research in Discourse Analysis, preferably with relevance to education.
• Teach and develop curricula for undergraduate and graduate courses in English language, linguistics, and related areas.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Secure competitive research grants and manage funded projects.
• Contribute to departmental, university and professional service, including curriculum design and academic leadership.

Required profile

• PhD in English Language, Applied Linguistics or a closely related field with a specialization in Discourse Analysis (must be awarded at the time of appointment).
• Demonstrated record of peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations commensurate with the rank applied for.
• Proven excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• For Associate/Full Professor: strong grant‑winning record, supervision experience, teaching leadership, and a robust international scholarly network.
