Assistant/Associate Professor – Biology Education (NSSE)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to strengthen its Biology Education programme within the Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) department. The role involves teaching, research, and supervision of students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and assess pre‑service and in‑service courses in Biology Education and graduate‑level Science Education.
• Supervise undergraduate teaching practicum projects and guide Master’s and Doctoral candidates.
• Participate in departmental, institute and university committees and provide consultancy services.
• Secure research funding, publish in high‑impact international journals, and contribute to the department’s research agenda.

Required profile

• Basic degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Education with a focus on science/biology education.
• Strong publication record in top‑tier, peer‑reviewed international education journals.
• Ability to teach in English.
• Teaching qualifications and at least five years of secondary or primary teaching experience with leadership responsibilities (preferred).
• Post‑doctoral research experience and experience delivering professional development for teachers (preferred).
• Track record of competitive research grants; for Associate Professor level, an established international reputation, major grant success and teaching awards are required.
