Assistant/Associate Professor in Active Tectonics & Earthquake Hazards

About the role

Nanyang Technological University’s Asian School of the Environment and the Earth Observatory of Singapore are seeking outstanding scientists for tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in Active Tectonics and Earthquake Hazards. The role involves leading cutting‑edge research on earthquakes, volcanic activity, tsunamis and related hazards in Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental observational, computational and theoretical seismology research.
• Develop and apply wave‑physics, earthquake source, and imaging techniques for the crust and mantle.
• Supervise graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Secure external research funding and publish in high‑impact journals.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across NTU’s research institutes.

Required profile

• PhD in geophysics, seismology, Earth science or a closely related field.
• Strong track record of impactful research and publications.
• Expertise in at least one of the following: observational seismology, computational seismology, earthquake geology, rock mechanics, or seismic hazard analysis.
• Experience using seismic observations and waveform modelling to investigate earthquake processes.
