Automation Engineer

About the role

Micron is hiring an Automation Engineer to drive labor efficiency improvements within an assigned cluster of processes through innovative automation solutions. You will work closely with process, equipment and new product owners to identify opportunities, design solutions and implement them with automation vendors, covering every stage from idea generation and design to deployment and production release. You will also give feedback on automation design rules to support new product introductions.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Site Manufacturing and Engineering teams to find gaps and improvement opportunities, analyzing process flows, product movement, equipment layouts and operator assignments.
• Run brainstorming sessions with cross-functional teams, evaluate proposals on ROI, quality and safety/ergonomics, and present ideas to management.
• Benchmark and design automation solutions with vendors, select suppliers and plan projects within scope, budget and timeline.
• Lead implementation through production release and act as the main interface with automation vendors.
• Coordinate engineering activities for development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices, and define test conditions.
• Oversee operational, functional and performance tests, analyze test data and prepare technical reports.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and share AI-enabled improvements with the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills, effective communication and a growth mindset.
• Leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable; internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, JMP and similar tools.
• Digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy.
