AVP, Real Estate Fund Accounting

About the role

State Street's Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS) team in Singapore is looking for an experienced Assistant Vice President to serve a leading global fund manager with a pan-Asian real estate platform holding USD 5 billion of assets in Asia. The role also supports other real estate and private equity funds and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Client engagement: strengthen client relationships, own client communication and follow-up, manage expectations, coordinate with auditors, corporate secretaries, law firms, banks and property accountants, explain fund agreements and advise on accounting and reporting matters.
• Service delivery: prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, NAV calculations, capital call and distribution notices, fee calculations and investor requests; coordinate annual audits and tax returns with external firms; review fund agreements and offering memoranda; maintain operational processes and internal controls.
• Management: manage staff to timely completion of deliverables, set goals and career plans, coordinate with offshore centers of excellence, oversee risk management and compliance of accounting processes, and drive process improvement.
• Other: coordinate special client and corporate projects and internal reporting.

Required profile

• Degree in accountancy and a professional accounting qualification.
• 10 years of accounting experience, including with private equity and/or real estate funds, part of which in a managerial role.
• Sound knowledge of FRS/IFRS.
• Prior process improvement and system implementation experience viewed favorably.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of private equity and real estate fund accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Investran viewed favorably.
• Client relations, team management, problem solving and organizational skills.
