Backend Engineer – Marketplace Buyer (Graduate)

About the role

The Marketplace Buyer team at Shopee is looking for a graduate Backend Engineer to help build and maintain high‑performance services that power the core e‑commerce experience for millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting buyer and seller journeys.
• Collaborate with product managers to provide technical input for product decisions.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to end‑to‑end solutions.
• Implement and execute technical designs, ensuring code quality and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve business‑logic or performance issues in production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong logical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and a passion for coding.
• Excellent ownership, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work independently under pressure.
• Solid understanding of computer‑science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networks, and databases.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Java, Python, Golang, or C++.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with relational databases, e.g., MySQL.
• Exposure to performance tuning of high‑load systems.
