Backend Software Engineer – TikTok Shop (Europe)

About the role

Join TikTok's Global E‑Commerce team as a Backend Software Engineer focused on the European market. You will help build and scale the core B‑side systems that power merchant, product, and service‑provider experiences across short‑video and live‑commerce channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services for B‑side business systems.
• Own a specific functional module, abstract business logic, and create robust architecture aligned with industry best practices.
• Ensure system stability through multi‑data‑center scheduling, disaster‑recovery, loss prevention, and performance governance.
• Analyze user needs, translate them into software solutions, and continuously improve system capacity to enhance user experience.
• Update existing software, add new capabilities, and define testing and validation procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience building highly scalable backend services using at least one of Java, Golang, Python, or C++.
• Strong understanding of e‑commerce business processes and B‑side system requirements (preferred).
• Experience with server‑level system design and performance optimisation in distributed, high‑traffic environments (preferred).
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
