Backend / Systems Agentic Engineer (Singapore)

About the role

Arta builds a digital family office that makes financial products once reserved for ultra-high-net-worth individuals accessible to a broader audience, using AI and digital tools. This role designs and builds the backend systems and infrastructure behind its mission-critical financial services, owning services end-to-end from API design to data models and production reliability, while working extensively with AI coding agents and LLM-based tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and data pipelines for the investment and wealth management platform
• Make architectural decisions on system design, data modelling, service boundaries and infrastructure
• Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) as a core part of daily work
• Build and integrate LLM and agent-powered capabilities such as automated workflows and intelligent data processing
• Optimise performance, scalability and reliability across distributed services
• Integrate with third-party financial APIs, brokerage systems, market data providers and cloud infrastructure
• Set up logging, monitoring and alerting (Sentry, Datadog) and take part in on-call and incident response
• Drive code review, testing and evaluation, including evals for AI/agent systems
• Work with product and design teams to scope backend solutions
• Build agent orchestration workflows using Temporal, with state machines and workflow patterns

Required profile

• At least 6 years of backend software development experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Prior experience in trading platforms, brokerage systems or financial infrastructure is a big plus

Required skills

• Python (or similar)
• Distributed systems, RESTful and/or gRPC APIs, microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with LLMs and agent frameworks (tool use, function calling, MCP, evals) or strong aptitude to learn quickly

The interview process includes a 30-minute intro call, two 60-minute virtual technical interviews (coding and system design), a 60-minute AI-augmented interview and a culture interview with the Chief of Staff.
