Blast Engineer, Civil & Structural

About the role

AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, is looking for a Blast Engineer, Civil & Structural in Singapore. The role covers blast effect analysis and protective design for buildings, facilities and structures, working with security consultants and preparing reports and specifications for tender and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform blast effect analysis on buildings, facilities, structures and facades in line with codes such as UFC 3-340-02 and ASCE 59-22
• Collaborate with security consultants on threat, vulnerability and risk assessments for projects
• Work with building and security consultants to understand design intent and risk-based security strategies, and develop protective designs
• Prepare detailed reports for blast effect analysis, structural resilience studies and other project reports
• Prepare and deliver detailed specifications and drawings of protective measures for tender and construction
• Coordinate with in-house and external specialist consultants

Required profile

• Degree in civil, structural or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates and self-driven engineers without prior experience are also welcome
• Strong fundamentals in structural engineering and mechanics of materials
• Able to communicate effectively with authorities, clients and other parties, and to write reports clearly
• Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Competent Person (Blast) qualification is an advantage

Required skills

• Structural analysis and mechanics of materials
• Proficiency with structural analysis and CFD software such as LS-DYNA is an advantage
