Building Trades Worker – Maintenance & Repairs

About the role

The Building Trades Worker supports the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs of commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment across assigned properties. You will respond quickly to emergency situations and routine service requests while ensuring safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of packaging machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, grounds equipment, and HVAC systems.
• Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
• Install, modify, and replace building equipment and finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, paint, piping, and flooring.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventative maintenance.
• Maintain fire and life‑safety systems, including fire alarms and fire pumps.
• Perform carpentry tasks and snow removal as needed.
• Use smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems for work orders and reporting.
• Complete required safety training and adhere to uniform dress code.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting.
• Technical, vocational or on‑the‑job training in at least one area such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, carpentry or engine repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (commercial license may be required).
• Basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Willingness to work extended periods, shift work, on‑call duties, and overtime when needed.
