Buyer – Commodity Specialist / Manager

About the role

The Buyer – Commodity Specialist / Manager will oversee purchase requisitions, coordinate with manufacturing, planning and engineering, and ensure timely, cost‑effective acquisition of inventory. This role supports the procurement team by maintaining data integrity in enterprise systems and driving strategic sourcing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse purchase requisitions and change orders.
• Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments.
• Process requests for quotes and manage supplier communications.
• Maintain procurement system data, including bills of material and part numbers.
• Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.
• Monitor sub‑contract cost, schedule and scope to secure best value.
• Develop new supply sources and recommend cost‑saving proposals.
• Collaborate with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.

Required profile

• Experience reviewing purchase requisitions and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical skills for cost and volume planning.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, engineering, planning).
• Knowledge of commodity management and sourcing strategies.
