Chief Legal & Compliance Officer – Regional Group (Asia)

About the role

We are seeking a strategic, business‑oriented legal professional to serve as the Group Chief Legal & Compliance Officer for a fast‑growing regional business group operating across technology, payments, merchant services and digital commerce in Asia. The role works closely with founders, senior leadership and external counsel to enable growth while mitigating legal and regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and compliance counsel to all operating companies across Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and future markets.
• Manage external counsel and legal partners in multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise on commercial decisions, partnerships, acquisitions, expansion and corporate structuring.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as partnership, vendor, reseller and strategic contracts.
• Support M&A activities, including due diligence, transaction review and risk assessment.
• Oversee corporate governance, holding‑company structures, shareholder agreements, ESOP matters and group‑level documentation.
• Build practical legal, compliance, contract and risk frameworks that allow the business to scale safely.
• Strengthen compliance standards for payments, merchant onboarding, data protection and cross‑border operations.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in legal, compliance, corporate or risk functions.
• Strong regional exposure across Asian markets, preferably Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan or Hong Kong.
• Background in fintech, payments, technology, SaaS or high‑growth digital platforms.
• Proven track record in commercial contracts, corporate governance, structuring and risk management.
• Comfortable working directly with founders, CEOs, business heads, banks and partners.
• Independent, practical judgement and ability to balance legal protection with business speed.
