Chinese Teacher

About the role

Nanyang International School, a prestigious educational institution in Singapore, is looking for a Chinese teacher to teach Chinese as a second language to students of varying proficiency levels. Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging Chinese language lessons following the school's curriculum and standards.
• Develop and implement lesson plans using interactive and innovative teaching methods.
• Assess and monitor student progress through evaluations, assignments and examinations, giving constructive feedback.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and respects cultural diversity.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to develop and refine the Chinese language programme and teaching materials.
• Organise and take part in cultural events, activities and workshops promoting Chinese language and culture.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance and prepare progress reports for parents and administration.
• Stay up to date with best practices in language education and take part in professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Teaching certification or relevant qualifications in Chinese language instruction.
• Proven experience teaching Chinese as a second language, preferably in an international school setting.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of Chinese language pedagogy and cultural nuances.
• Excellent classroom management skills, strong organisational and time-management skills, and attention to detail.
