Compliance Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Compliance Counsel to join Huawei’s Singapore team. The role will support the company’s compliance function across multiple jurisdictions, interpreting laws and providing practical advice to protect the business.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, collect and interpret relevant laws, regulations and industry guidelines in Singapore and other business jurisdictions, covering trade, export‑control, sanctions, AML, anti‑bribery, data protection and financial compliance.
• Assess regulatory changes, advise stakeholders and support the development and implementation of internal compliance policies and procedures.
• Provide compliance risk assessments for new initiatives, projects, products and cross‑border transactions, proposing mitigation measures.
• Review contracts, commercial agreements and project documents for compliance clauses, suggesting revisions on sanctions, export controls, payment terms, due‑diligence and liability provisions.
• Conduct due‑diligence and screening of customers, suppliers, partners and agents, identifying red flags and supporting sanctions screening.

Required profile

• Law degree or equivalent qualification with a focus on regulatory or corporate law.
• Proven experience in compliance, trade compliance, sanctions, AML or anti‑bribery within a multinational environment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex regulations into actionable business guidance.
• Excellent communication skills to work with legal, finance, procurement, business and project teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Singapore regulatory framework and international trade, export‑control and sanctions regimes.
• Familiarity with anti‑money‑laundering, counter‑terrorism financing and anti‑bribery legislation.
• Experience reviewing commercial contracts for compliance clauses.
