Counsellor – Student Wellbeing and Mental Health

About the role

The University Counselling Centre at NTU is seeking a qualified Counsellor to support the mental health and wellbeing of undergraduate and graduate students. You will join a multidisciplinary team to deliver professional counselling services, contribute to campus-wide mental health initiatives, and help students thrive academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct risk and needs assessments and deliver tailored intervention plans in person or online.
• Prepare assessment reports, present cases, and refer students to appropriate social service agencies.
• Co‑manage sensitive crisis cases alongside senior mental health practitioners.
• Provide consultation to staff regarding at‑risk students and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Design and facilitate wellbeing training programmes and contribute to annual wellbeing projects.
• Collect and analyse data to improve mental health support services.
• Collaborate with schools, residence halls, support teams, and external professionals to manage complex or severe mental health issues.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification in counselling, psychology or a related field.
• Experience working with university students or in a similar counselling setting.
• Strong understanding of clinical, legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and data privacy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
